Trade Show Build Up
5) Check the location of your stand against the floor plan.
It has been known for stands to get built in the wrong place or for name boards to be fixed to the wrong stand. So before you start work check that everything is where it should be and what you ordered.
If anything is wrong stay calm.... everything can usually be quickly sorted out. Find out where the organizers office is. Usually outside the office you will find the service desks manned by people who can sort out your problem. Best not pester the organizer at this stage as they will only refer you to the service desks. So here is where to go to sort out your problem:
Electrician. They are there to sort out any electrical faults on your stand as well as the supply and fixing of your lighting and power points. Take along your floor plan to show them where you are and to pinpoint the location of your problem.
Stand Fitter. If you have a Shell Scheme stand these will be the people that set it up. So they are a good starting point for problems with your location, problems with your stand and who will help you with on the spot adjustments and amendments. They will also have supplied your name board and will usually have the capability of correcting any typos or misspellings.
Furniture Contractor. Any problems with your hired furniture... this is the place to go for help.
Remember that these people are working under tremendous pressure. They will respond much better to a polite friendly request than to anger and aggression. They will get around to fixing your problem, while you are waiting get stuck into setting up another part of your stand.
If all else fails... by all means speak to the organizer.
