Trade Show Help & Advice
Running Your Stand During The Show
This may be the first time you have met some of your customers so its vital to come across as friendly and professional. Exhibitions provide the perfect opportunity for you to create the right image. Here are some points to bear in mind:
1) Designate someone to be in charge of keeping the stand clean.
2) Don’t eat, drink or smoke on the stand, unless you are sharing with a customer.
3) Keep literature racks topped up and tidy.
4) Don’t stand on the front of your stand with your arms crossed. It’s threatening… as if you’re defying visitors to cross your boundary.
5) Don’t read newspapers or magazines on your stand.
6) Don’t pounce on visitors in the gangways. But do be ready to assist a visitor who shows interest in your products.
7) Don’t stand round in little groups sharing “in” jokes.
8) When you are talking to a visitor, give them 100% attention. But beware of visitors who just want to use your stand as a resting place.
If these points appear a little far-fetched – I assure you that you can see all of these faults at any show in the country. You can bet its the worst offenders who will be telling everyone afterwards that the show was a waste of time.
Stand personnel
Only employ people on your stand who know your products intimately and can explain the benefits to visitors in a friendly and professional way.
Don’t hire staff or use any member of staff who does not have these qualities… after all, it is the public image of your company that you are projecting. Don’t risk anything that could damage it.
